South Beach Inn is a 12-unit hotel with a pool situated in a park-like setting on beautiful South Padre Island, Texas. Set back from the street, and hidden behind palm and sea grape trees, our semi-secluded property is only one-half block to the beach.

Originally built as the Sea Grape Motel in 1961, our Inn stakes claim as one of the oldest on the Island. Some of our guests have been coming here since they were young, and now visit each summer with their grandchildren.

We boast a relaxed family atmosphere that is both economical and fun. If you choose one of our ground-floor efficiency kitchenettes, you can park at your back door, and the pool is out your front door. Then, with just a two-minute walk, you are in the white sands and the waves of the Gulf of Mexico.
There are 11 ground floor, efficiency-style kitchenettes and 1 King standard room to choose from. Each efficiency can accommodate up to four people, and the King sleeps two. We are even pet friendly.

During the summer months, water sports such as scuba diving, snorkeling, jet ski rentals, banana boat rides, windsurfing, kiteboarding, and parasailing are available on the beach. Fishing is available at all times of the year either in the bay or deep-sea fishing offshore with a variety of experienced boat captains and fishing guides who supply you with gear as well.

Relaxed Family Atmosphere

South Padre Island's beaches have also become popular year-round destinations for families and retirees. The dunes and grassy areas are gaining increasing notoriety among birding enthusiasts and sand-castle artists, and the island is emerging as a top spot for windsurfing and kiteboarding. Many companies rent equipment for fishing, parasailing, jet-skiing and other water sports along both bay and gulf beaches.

White sand and turquoise-blue surf aren't commonly associated with Texas, but they define this tiny (it's 34 miles long, and a half-mile at its widest point) island at the Lone Star State's southernmost tip. Laguna Madre Bay laps South Padre's western shore, and the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico roll in on the east. A temperature of 70 degrees or higher most months keeps the beaches packed well before and after the summer schedule of other vacation spots.
